Descripion
It is a fine stone-built country manor of 1750. Classified as historical, it has been preserved for its traditional architectural structure, typical of the Cretan design stemming from prehistoric Minoan mansions.
The architecture morphology has been preserved in elements such as: The old stove, the carving on a rock reservoir, the stone basins and parapets, the wooden lofts, the clay chimneys and the unique stands along with their very ancient jars.
It is situated in the Byzantine settlement of Tzanakiana, on the foot of Psiloriti, 100m from Margarites (international centre of ceramics). It is in a natural environment of unrivalled beauty, with ravines lush in bushes and cypress trees, and a virgin forest with therapeutic – aromatic herbs (oregano, sage, honeysuckle and rosemary etc). Only a small distance from Ancient Eleftherna, the Arkadi Monastery, the Idaion Andron and the beaches of Panormo with the fish taverns. It is just 25 km out of Rethymno. The house has apartments with lofts for 2-4 persons, Cretan living room, fridge, television and antique beds. There are also double rooms with stone beds, fireplace etc. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are being served with traditional home-made cooking.
The house offers lessons of Greek language, Cretan culture (dance-music-traditional instruments and dress), pottery, Cretan diet-Cretan cuisine, production of aromatic olive oil with herbs and fragrant plants and information on their therapeutic abilities.
