Museum of Arkadi monastery

The Arkadi monastery was probably founded between the liberation of Crete from the Arabs and the Venetian occupation (9th-13th century). The monastery is known for its contribution in the Cretan Revolt against the Ottomans. Arkadi used to be a significant center of manuscripts copying. Interesting manuscripts are exhibited in the Museum of Akadi monastery, along with other items of historical or religious character. Part of the old church saved from the fire in 1866 is also kept in the museum.
